Taraclia District is located in the southern part of the Republic of Moldova, approximately 151 km from the municipality of Chișinău. It comprises 26 localities and has a population of 29 623 inhabitants, with an average gross monthly salary of 8 736 MDL.
Access to international markets is facilitated by the proximity to customs checkpoints and a well-developed road infrastructure. The district is located just 53.8 km from the Oancea border crossing, one of the main gateways to the European Union. The road distance to the Giurgiulești Port is approximately 81 km, and about 230 km to the Port of Odesa, ensuring fast connections to the main regional trade corridors.
The district’s economy is predominantly agro-industrial, supported by the activity of the Taraclia Free Economic Zone. Companies with regional impact and export potential operate in the district, including Ispan-Lux, specialized in the production of ceramic tiles and slabs; Bas Steel Profile, a manufacturer of steel pipes, tubes, and accessories; and Milina, a bakery known for its wide assortment of products – bread, cakes, and pastries – serving both the local market and neighboring regions.
