Today, January 12, 2021, the General Director of the Investment Agency of Moldova had a meeting with the Ambassador of the Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka headquartered in Moscow,HE. Prof. Lamawansa Meegahalande Durage.
Rodica Verbeniuc congratulated HE Durage on the occasion of his appointment as ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. wishig him success in his diplomatic mandate, confirming that the Investment Agency will always be open to cooperation projects, whether investment, export or tourism.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the Republic of Moldova's investment and exports sectors evolution, as well as development opportunities for bilateral forums and exhibitions.
The Republic of Moldova and the Socialist Democratic Republic of Sri Lankathe had signed Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations. At the same time, negotiations on 5 bilateral agreements are underway .
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2019 the export of Moldovan goods to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka amounted to 46.95 thousand USD (compared to 553.40 thousand US dollars in 2018), the volume of imported goods amounted to 908.02 thousand USD (compared to 803.43 thousand US dollars in 2018), the trade balance being: -861.07 thousand US dollars
