Moldova strengthened its presence on the international fruit market at Fruit Attraction 2024, held from October 8-10 in Madrid.
The national stand "Moldova – Taste Makes the Difference," organized with the support of the Invest Moldova Agency, USAID Moldova Competitiveness and Resilience Project, and the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund, showcased a wide range of fresh fruits, such as apples, plums, and grapes, presented by the Moldova Fruct Association and 12 member companies that are both producers and exporters.
One of the key outcomes of participating in Fruit Attraction is the establishment of new trade partnerships. Due to the shortage of apples and the increased price of those in Poland, this year presents a significant opportunity for Moldovan apples to enter the EU market in larger quantities. During the exhibition, there was a growing demand for Moldovan apples from Scandinavian countries, the United Kingdom, and other states. Notably, this demand comes from major EU supermarket chains such as Rewe Group, Coop Trading, Billa, and Penne, among others. This also places a responsibility on local producers and exporters regarding the quality of the fruits and their packaging.
Participation in Fruit Attraction demonstrates Moldova's ability to strategically position itself against global competitors, promoting the quality and sustainability of its products. The Republic of Moldova continues to successfully advance in international markets through solid trade partnerships and a commitment to providing premium products.
During a visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Kingdom of Spain, Corneliu Spinei, Head of the Export Promotion Department at the Invest Moldova Agency, met with Eugen Revenco, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Kingdom of Spain. The discussions focused on bilateral economic potential, identifying new opportunities for collaboration, and organizing business missions to Spain aimed at strengthening trade relations and promoting Moldovan fruits in the Spanish and broader European Union markets. This visit underscored the importance of expanding the presence of Moldovan products in international markets, thereby contributing to the increased visibility and competitiveness of domestic products.
