Riscani district is located in the northwestern part of the Republic of Moldova, approximately 163 km from Chisinau. It comprises 55 localities and has a population of 46 868. The average gross monthly salary in the district is 8 695 MDL.
Riscani’s geographic location offers convenient access to external markets. The Costesti–Stinca border crossing, just 35 km away, provides direct connection to the European Union, while access to Ukraine is available via the Otaci customs point, located 90 km away. The district is also 119 km from Iasi (Romania), 376 km from the Giurgiulești International Port, and 343 km from the Port of Odesa.
The district’s economy is primarily supported by the agri-food sector, light manufacturing, processing industries, and construction materials production. Several established companies with regional impact operate in Riscani, including Lactis JSC, a producer of dairy products, and Avicola Riscani JSC, which specializes in the production of eggs and poultry meat.
