Leova district is located in the southwestern part of the Republic of Moldova, approximately 95 km from Chișinău. It comprises 40 localities and has a population of 31 405. The average gross monthly salary is 9 485 MDL. The district benefits from direct access to the Romanian border via the Leova–Bumbăta customs checkpoint, located just 5 km away. Leova is 112 km from Iași, 167 km from the Giurgiulești International Port, and approximately 240 km from the Port of Odesa, offering quick connections to major regional trade corridors.
The district’s economy is supported by natural resources, particularly through the extraction of sand, clay, loam, and bentonite, as well as the utilization of mineral water sources. Currently, two sand quarries are active within the district.
Several companies with local and regional significance operate in Leova. Among them are Vestvlad, a key player in the local meat processing industry, and Cazangenii, a company specialized in grain cultivation.
