Edinet district is located in the northernmost part of the Republic of Moldova and comprises 68 localities. It has a population of 50 429 and an average gross monthly salary of 8 831 MDL. The district benefits from proximity to both the Romanian and Ukrainian borders, each located approximately 55 km away—offering easy access to international markets. Edinet is also 149 km from Iași, 381 km from the Giurgiulesti International Free Port, and 372 km from the Port of Odesa.
The local economy is diversified, with agriculture as the main sector, supported by a developing manufacturing industry. The Edinet Industrial Park, covering 17.9 hectares, hosts companies involved in fruit processing, sorting, and packaging, along with other emerging businesses. The district also holds significant mineral resources valuable to the construction industry, including sandy clay deposits, disintegrated silurian shales and sandstones, compact brown clay shales, siliceous limestone, and small clay extraction sites used in brick and tile manufacturing.
Several companies with regional and national impact operate in the district. Notable examples include TB Fruit and Natur Bravo, both major players in fruit and vegetable processing; PB-Nord, specialized in the poultry industry; and Cornelius Electronics, a producer of electronic components.
