Donduseni district is located in the northern part of the Republic of Moldova and includes 30 localities. It has a population of 29 674 and an average gross monthly salary of 8 645 MDL. The district’s geographic location ensures convenient access to both national and international trade routes, including the European Union via the Lipcani customs checkpoint (81 km away) and Ukraine via the Otaci border crossing (32 km away). Donduseni is situated approximately 198 km from Chisinau, 154 km from Iasi (Romania), 386 km from the Giurgiulesti International Port, and 378 km from the Port of Odesa (Ukraine).
The district's economy is primarily agricultural, with strong potential in the cultivation of cereals, fruits, and vegetables. This is complemented by small-scale manufacturing and processing activities.
Several notable companies operate in Donduseni, including Rom-Cris, the second-largest egg producer in the Republic of Moldova and one of the few authorized to export to the European Union. The company is also recognized for its sustainable practices, producing electricity from biogas using agricultural and livestock waste.
