Comrat

The Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia is located in the southern part of the Republic of Moldova, approximately 126 km from Chisinau municipality. It comprises 32 localities and has a population of 11 596 inhabitants, with an average gross monthly salary of 8 771 lei.

Access to international markets is facilitated by proximity to customs points and developed road infrastructure. Comrat is only 87 km from the Oancea customs point, one of the main gateways to the European Union. The road distance to the Giurgiulesti port is approximately 108 km, and to the Odesa port 237 km, allowing rapid connection to export and import corridors.

Gagauzia's economy is diversified, mainly focused on agriculture and the processing industry. Within the territorial unit, in the city of Comrat, operates a subzone of the Valkanes Free Entrepreneurship Zone, which contributes to the development of local industry.

Successful companies with national and international impact operate in Gagauzia, including Erich Jaeger Mol – an important player in the automotive sector; Vinuri de Comrat – a wine producer; Beurer – a German manufacturer specializing in health, wellness, and comfort devices and products; and Oloi Pak Factory – a dairy products producer.
