Causeni

Causeni district is located in the south-east of the Republic of Moldova, approximately 89 km from Chisinau municipality. The district borders Ukraine, providing direct access to the Ukrainian market. It includes 48 localities and has a population of 60 926 inhabitants, with an average gross monthly salary of 9 371 lei.

Access to international markets is facilitated by proximity to customs points and developed road infrastructure. The district is only 71 km from the Palanca customs post and 179 km from the Oancea customs point, one of the main gateways to the European Union. The road distance to the Giurgiulești port is 204 km, and to the Odesa port 136 km, allowing for rapid connection to export and import corridors.

The economy of Causeni district is mainly based on agriculture, with consistent production of cereals, fruits, and vegetables, while the processing industry is closely linked to these crops. Additionally, natural resources such as stone, sand, and clay offer opportunities in the construction materials industry. A subzone of the Bălți Free Economic Zone operates within the district, aimed at developing the industrial sector. Important local and regional companies operate in the district, such as Lanacomlux, a company specialized in fruit cultivation, which harnesses the agricultural potential of the area and contributes to the development of the horticultural sector.
