Briceni district is located in the northwestern extremity of the Republic of Moldova, sharing borders with both Ukraine and Romania. The district comprises 39 localities and has a population of 46 894 inhabitants, with an average gross salary of 8 049 lei. The territory benefits from direct connections to customs points located just 2.5 km from the Ukrainian border and 27 km from the Romanian border. Additionally, the district is situated 435 km from the Port of Odessa, 432 km from Giurgiulesti International Port, 237 km from Chisinau municipality, and 181 km from Iasi municipality. This strategic location provides significant logistical and commercial potential, facilitating access to external markets.

The district's economy is predominantly agricultural, with activities focused on cultivating cereals, sunflower seeds, sugar beets, fruits, and vegetables. The region also contains important deposits of sand, clay, limestone, and gravel.

Several major local enterprises operate in Briceni, actively contributing to the region's economic development. These include S.A. Calcar, which operates in the extractive sector, and Largo-Terra and Servest-Agro, which specialize in fruit and vegetable processing and preservation.
