Glodeni district is located in the northwestern part of the Republic of Moldova, approximately 156 km from Chisinau. It comprises 35 localities and has a population of 40 527. The average gross monthly salary in the district is 8 651 MDL.
Due to its position near the border with Romania, Glodeni offers direct access to the European Union via the Costesti border crossing, just 33 km away. The nearest major Romanian city, Iasi, is located approximately 89 km from the district. Glodeni is also situated around 321 km from the Giurgiulesti International Port and 335 km from the Port of Odesa.
The district’s economy is primarily based on agriculture, primary processing, and the extraction of construction-grade mineral resources. A new industrial park is planned for development in Glodeni, covering an area of 10 hectares. The park will provide access to essential infrastructure including water supply, sewage, gas, electricity, and telecommunications.
Several important local enterprises operate in the district, particularly in agriculture and the food industry. These include Tn Nuts, a company specializing in the cultivation of berry shrubs, and S.C. Stăpînul Mesei, a major producer of bread and pastry products.
