Moldovan fruits exhibited in Moscow. Hundreds of tons of fruit could be exported to the CIS

Moldovan fruits have captured CIS markets interest this season, where hundreds of tons of local fruits could be exported. This is the result of the participation of 10 members of the Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters "Moldova Fruct" on September 22-25 in one of the largest exhibitions - "World Food Moscow". The event, held in the capital of the Russian Federation, attracted over 20,000 visitors, interested in local fruits such as apples, plums, table grapes and canned fruits and vegetables.

Our country's participation in "World Food Moscow" is part of the annual action plan developed by the Investment Agency (AI), which provides platforms and practical tools for quality exports, including attending the largest exhibitions in the world.

Rodica Verbeniuc, General Director, Moldova Investment Agency: “IA is the promoter of Moldovan products on foreign markets implementing national policies to facilitate exports. In the last two years, about 150 companies have participated in international exhibitions, over 220 contracts have been signed, and following the participations, exports have generated about 11 million euros. Russian Federation remains one of the main export markets for domestic fruits. That is why we have supported the participation of our country in the World Food Moscow exhibition for 3 consecutive years,  in order to capitalize on this important opportunity, which will ensure the export of Moldovan fruits. ”

During the pandemic several related events were canceled, so the traditional development of the exhibition "World Food Moscow" could generate, in drought conditions, exports of about 200 thousand tons of apples, 30 thousand tons of plums. and 40 thousand tons of Moldovan table grapes.

Iurie Fală, Executive Director Moldova Fruct: “The participation in this international exhibition has an important role to play in showing potential customers what range of fresh and processed fruits we have. In addition to fruit promoting, we also promote our country as a fruit supplier. At the same time, at the exhibition we have communicated with our existing clients and also established new contacts, even if the pandemic have negatively influenced the flow of visitors. Thus, there were potential customers mainly from Russian regions, and about 100 visitors were interested in local fruits. "

"World Food Moscow" is traditionally visited by representatives of all trade networks in Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Belarus - traditional markets for Moldovan fruits. The exhibition is a communication platform between exporters and importers, an opportunity to analyze and get acquainted with market requirements and trends, and also to establish new partnerships.

According to the organizers' report, in 2019, 81% of the participants in "World Food Moscow" found new customers and partners, and 95% considered the exhibition important for the business environment. Also, fruits and vegetables were in the Top 5 products of interest to visitors.
